DAYS KENYA WILDLIFE SAFARI AND MOUNT KENYA
CLIMB SIRIMON ROUTE
Day 01:
NAIROBI:
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport. Met by
Diwaka Safaris representative at the Airport
and transferred by our driver / guide to
your Nairobi hotel. Use of room is not
guaranteed before
noon.
Remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight
at
THE JACARANDA HOTEL (B/B)
Day 02: NAIROBI – MOUNT KENYA (SIRIMON
GATE):
Breakfast at
the camp; afterwards drive to the base
hotel. Relax as you prepare for the climb.
Lunch at the base Hotel. Then drive to
Sirimon Park gate (2600m). On completion of
park entry formalities, begin a 3-4 hour
hike through forest. Ascend 700m bypassing
the bamboo, rosewood and heather zones to
Old Moses camp. The forest and bamboo are
home to hundreds of buffaloes, elephants,
bushbucks and a plethora of bird species.

OLD MOSES CAMP
(3300m)
Day
03: OLD MOSES – SHIPTON’S HUT:
A long day
leading to the base of the high peaks.
Today's trek is largely through the
moorlands and the Mackinder Valley, with
good views of the main peaks and a brief
stopover for picnic lunch. Total walking
time is approx. 7 hours gaining 900m in
altitude. Dinner and Overnight at
SHIPTON’S HUT
(4200m)
Day 04: SHIPTON’S HUT – POINT LENANA TO
MACKINDERS CAMP:
Pre-dawn
attempt of the summit starts at 0300hrs and
you hike for about 3 hours up steep scree
slopes and across rugged rocks up to Pt.
Lenana (4985m), the hikers' summit. Then
down through Lewis Glacier up to the
Austrian hut to join to the Naromoru track
and descend for 2 hours to Mackinder's camp
for breakfast then have the rest of the day
at leisure. Dinner and overnight at
MACKINDERS
CAMP (4300m)
Day 05: MACKINDERS CAMP – BASE – NAIROBI –
KAMPALA:
Leaving early,
you gradually descend for 4-5 hours through
the moorlands and the lower vertical bog up
to the Met Station, from where you walk down
on a wide dirt road leading to the Naromoru
Park gate (2600m) where you meet our
vehicle. Depart for Nairobi, On arrival in
Nairobi transfer to Jomo Kenyatta Intl.
Airport for your scheduled international
departure flight to Entebbe Uganda. On
Arrival at the airport in Uganda you will be
met by the Uganda Guide who will transfer
you to your hotel in Kampala. Overnight in
SHERATON HOTEL (B/B).
Day 06: KAMPALA – QUEEN ELIZABETH PARK:
In the morning
right after breakfast you will transfer to
Queen Elizabeth NP. The drive will take you
6 hours to reach the park in the afternoon.
You will check in your lodge to have lunch
and then late r go for a boat ride on the
Kazinga channel. The launch cruise will
enable you view animals like the buffaloes
at the shores, hippos and plenty of birds
for birders. Overnight at
MWEYA SAFARI
LODGE (F/B).
Day 07: QUEEN ELIZABETH PARK - BWINDI:
In the morning before sunrise you will go
for a game drive in the park searching for
animals like the elephants Lions, leopards,
hyenas, warthogs, antelopes and many more.
You will return form the game drive f or
late breakfast at your lodge before you
drive to Bwindi. Time permitting you may go
for a game drive in the Ishasha sector to
search for tree climbing lions. Later on you
will proceed to reach Bwindi in the
afternoon. Overnight at
GORILLA RESORT
LODGE (F/B).
Day 08: BWINDI:
In the morning after breakfast you will
transfer to the park headquarters for
briefing before you proceed to the park in
search for the giant apes. The time taken
before encountering the gorillas varies and
it ranges from 2 hours to 9 hours. Therefore
you will have to carry packed lunch. On
meeting the gorillas you will be allowed to
spend one hour with them and then later
return to your lodge.
Overnight at
GORILLA RESORT LODGE (F/B).
Day 09: BWINDI - KAMPALA:
In the morning after breakfast you will
transfer to Kampala. The drive takes 9-12
hours depending on the weather, to reach in
the evening. You will be transferred to your
Hotel. Overnight at Sheraton hotel /Holiday
express hotel.
Day 10: KAMPALA – NAIROBI AND DEPART:
Depending on your flight departure time you
may go for a city tour to go visit the
National museum, the Bahai temple and the
Kasubi tombs for an insight in the Ugandan
culture. Later on you will be transferred
to the Airport for you flight back home.
