The second most important city
of the country, Mombasa is the
largest and most popular island on
the Kenya coast. This old but
vibrant gateway to Kenya is a
mystical mixture of ancient and
modern, with a cosmopolitan
population blending Africa, Arabia
and Asia. But not everyone realizes
that this picturesque port is an
island with two deep water harbors.
Evocative of the east, graceful
sailing dhows unchanged throughout
the centuries, arrive on the monsoon
winds, while ocean liners berth just
around the headland. Fringing the
dhow harbor is the Old Town,
dominated by the ancient Portuguese
Fort Jesus, a maze of narrows
streets overshadowed by high
ornamental balconies of quaint
shuttered houses and vibrant open
bazaars.
BAMBURI NATURE TRAIL & MAMBA
VILLAGE

A reclaimed quarry, this is a
stunning nature park. Walk amongst
the trees and colorful birds as you
watch hippos, waterbuck, buffalo and
antelope. Visit the Crocodile
Village and learn of the cycles in
their life.

An evening aboard the "nawalikher"
offers something special by way of
entertainment and memories. whilst
guests sip on cocktails and nibble
on swahili fried coconut chips, the
dhow gently sails past the old town
of Mombasa to watch the sunset.
After a succulent 5 course dinner
the charcoal grills are moved away
and the floor is cleared for dancing
to a live band. at 10.30pm, return
to the jetty for transfer to your
hotel
SEAFOOD FANTASY (DHOW, LUNCH OR

Sail gently up the harbor in
your traditional dhow. You will be
entertained by a live band and
traditional dancers after which you

A day of ultimate pleasure
started off with a sail on a swahili
dhow, visit to at Marine Park where
you can snorkel or goggle and
finally a gargantuan seafood lunch.
MALINDI, MARINE PARK & GEDI RUINS

07.00 hrs. South Coast Return:
17.00 to 18.00hrs
Drive north to cross Kilifi
Creek and continue to Gedi, an
ancient town mysteriously deserted
in the 16th Century. Continue to
Malindi and visit the Marine
National Park in glass bottomed
boats. Lunch at a Malindi Hotel
followed by a visit to falconry,
shopping and traditional dancing at
a local Giriama village.
SHIMBA HILLS
Dep: 10.00 hrs North Coast, 11.00
hrs South Coast Return: late
evening
Drive south to the cool
enchanting Shimba Hills National
Reserve. Lunch at Shimba Hills
Lodge. Afternoon game viewing in
the Park followed by a walk down to
the Sheldrick Falls for a sundowner
drink prior to returning to your
Mombasa Hotel. |
